ヒゲワラスボ属

日本では，本属の魚類は林・伊藤 (1978) [林　公義・伊藤　孝. 1978. 南西諸島のハゼ科魚類について（I）. 横須賀市博物館研究報告（自然科学）, 24: 59-82, pls. 10-21.] により「Taenioides cf. jacsoni」として報告された15個体が初である．林ほか (1981)はこれらの標本をTaenioides limicolaに同定し、「ヒゲワラスボ」の和名を付した．その後，Shibukawa & Murdy (2012) [Shibukawa, K. & Murdy, E.O. 2012. A redescription of the eel goby Trypauchenopsis (Gobiidae: Amblyopinae) with comments on relationships. Copeia, 2012(3): 527-534. DOI: 10.1643/CI-11-034] はこれらの標本をTrypauchenopsis intermediaに同定した．しかしながら，本属には形態的に識別できる2種が含まれていることが明らかとなり，林・伊藤 (1978)が報告した15個体にも2種含まれていた．混乱を避けるため，この2種にはそれぞれ新和名が提唱されている（Maeda et al. 2022）．
