備考

日本には1897年ごろに中国から高知県高岡町に，1914年に韓国から東京の養魚場に観賞魚目的で移植された（ただし，このとき高知県に移植されたのはタイワンキンギョの可能性もある）（北川・細谷 2011; 内田ほか 2023）．東京都の養魚場は1917年の洪水で冠水，本種は流失し利根川水系に分布を広げた．岡山県では日本住血吸虫の駆除を目的として河川に放流されたこともある．このほか多くの都道府県に拡散したが，圃場整備や都市化による生息環境の劣化，サンフィッシュ科魚類の食害によって生息数は激減した（北川・細谷 2011）．

備考

沖縄に生息する集団には複数系統があり，在来種である可能性がある（細谷ほか 2019）．琉球列島の個体群は独自の繁殖特性を持つ．沖永良部島には1937年，南大東島には戦前，高知県には1897年に導入された（環境省 2015）．
