備考

本種はMurdy (1989)のPeriophthalmus argentilineatusと同じものである．Murdy (1989)はP. kaloloおよびP. argentilineatusを2種として区別し，MNHN A.1499をP. argentilineatusのレクトタイプに指定した．MNHN A.1499はまた，Eschmeyer et al. (1998)によってP. kaloloのレクトタイプに指定されたことから，P. kaloloはP. argentilineatusの客観古参異名となった．結果として，Murdy (1989)のP. kaloloにはP. kallopterus，P. argentilineatusにはP. kaloloの学名が適用される必要がある（Kottelat 2013）．

Apocryptes cantonensis Osbeck, 1757はpre-Linneanなので使用不可．Cyprinus cantonensis Osbeck, 1765については，Osbeckの元記載によるとハゼ類ではなくコイ類をもとにしているようである（Kottelat 2013, Parenti 2021）．
